With just over a month before the Christmas season is upon us, I am planning to poke in the garage for lights, decorations, and all things festive this weekend. Decorating this year will be so much easier because we downsized our massive Christmas tree to a pre-lit pencil format. That skinny tree was pure motivation to organize a collection of meaningful decorations while blessing forward to those in need.
Here’s a few ways to simplify your Christmas decs…
- Choose a theme ~ while sifting through all of your festive decorations, think of a theme for the “keep box”. Also, limiting to a few key pieces will help to declutter excess.
- Decorate your Christmas Gifts ~ in place of ribbons & bows, tie an ornament on a gift or basket.
- Donate your decorations ~ explore a local charity that is in need of decorations for fundraising campaigns; sponsor a family this holiday season; and/or bring some Christmas cheer to a long term care facility.
- A little green goes a long way ~ create a simple, elegant centerpiece for your table using evergreen branches ~ the whole house will smell divine!
No more towers of storage totes stacked up to the ceiling in my garage ~ we are down to just a few which opened up all sorts of fresh, open, and airy spaces. I hope I inspired you to embrace simplicity during such a busy time of the year.
