Extreme household clutter with a lack of storage IS in fact utter chaos – that is not a peaceful or productive way to live.

My husband was about to start a new project in the workshop but he was stalling at the start line because…well things were just a little bit messy.  So, with some free time and a rainy forecast, we cleared the clutter, put away tools, loaded up some old paint to take to the Recycling Centre, gathered bits of wood for disposal, and swept the floor.  Now with a clean & tidy workspace he was ready to focus on the task at hand.  There’s nothing like starting with a clean slate – a clutter-free space leaves me feeling euphoric.  My Mumsy used to say, “Oh, she just got the spring back in her step!”.  That’s the experience outcome I want to see in my clients when we hit the finish line on their home organization project.

People tell me all the time that they’ve tried to “fix” their lack of storage by investing in storage bins, using furniture that doubles as storage, or even renting a self-storage unit when things no longer fit in the closet or garage.  Newsflash!  Moving your stuff into storage is essentially just hiding it from your sight and that effort is not addressing the root cause of the problem.

Living clutter-free means everything is organized in a logical place that has a purpose in the household.  The goal of any decluttering project should be finding space solutions and not storage solutions ~ guess what? It will happen when you downsize your stuff!

I don’t see a mess, I see possibilities to make things better and quite honestly, I don’t care how you got into your messy household.  What I do care about is helping you get out of it so you can make a fresh start.  In fact, I’m in it to see your cheeky smile and the spring in your step!  For a free 30-minute consultation, email me anytime at niki@tickoffthelist.ca.  I’ll bring the fresh ideas and that will cost you nothing but time!
