Among the busy Sunshine Coast families and empty nesters that have crossed my path this past year, I have also had the privilege of helping seniors in our community and it has been pure joy. Some which have downsized their residence and moved in with their family or who are preparing to transition into another housing situation AND not without experiencing some challenges in the process.
When Dad passed away from a sudden illness, nothing could have prepared my family for the impact and turmoil of that chapter in our lives. While we were reeling in the grief of losing a parent, an emerging level of life stuff was coming out of the woodwork that we had to deal with. It was incredibly hard but with the Good Lord’s goodness and amazing grace, we are a stronger family.
Having experienced the process of downsizing my mother’s household, helping her to adjust to new surroundings, as well as learn how to adapt to so many changes in a short period of time, I understand and have experienced the physical and emotional toll all of this can take on a family. We sourced various community services to help us and I encourage people to do the same.
Helping seniors in our community is an act of service which is why I commit a rich amount of time & resources into the work I do that is complimentary. I look forward to continuing this important work.
