Downsizing can be hard work ALL at once but if you apply these simple ways into your daily household tasks, you’ll be well on your way to lighter living.
- Laundry edit – the laundry is done and now it’s time to fold & put away and this is when you might notice you’re washing and wearing some pieces more frequently than other clothing. Since you’ve already pulled open the dresser drawer and closet, see what is not getting any mileage in the current season and do a quick edit for the local Thrift Store bag.
- Rotate your Stuff – whether it’s bedding, bathroom towels, or kitchen linens, it’s easy to just put things away on top of existing inventory. Instead, pull everything out, check and remove items that may have seen better days, then rotate stock for more balanced usage.
- Use a Maybe Box – you might not be ready to apply the “Use it or Lose it” rule to your downsizing effort so instead free up things from much needed storage space, place them in a box and label it. Then store that box elsewhere while enjoying less clutter. In a few months time, if you lived without those things and don’t miss using them, then chances are you’re ready to bless them forward.
