Declutter hidden recycling into extra storage space

Most people that want to declutter their home truly believe they lack storage but from my experience working with Coasters that simply isn’t true. The key is to clear out the clutter, including hidden recycling, to free up much-needed storage space then we can see a path forward.

What is hidden recycling?  Well, it can be a combination of things.  Think of the items stored in original packaging that can get bulky in a tight area for example.  Other things & stuff that can be defined as “hidden recycling” are pickle jars, yoghurt containers that stack up over time, even an excess amount of food storage containers!  Don’t get me started on all those water bottles and coffee travel mugs ~ the list is endless!

Other household stuff eating up your storage space is the One Day Pile ~ we all have one!  It’s the stack of canning jars with every intention of making jam and preserving vegetables, pieces of electronics that might be needed for that something situation, cookbooks you want to conquer, totes of craft & hobby supplies, gifts from people you no longer see but feel guilty about throwing away, formal wear for that maybe special occasion you’ll need it for and boxes (and boxes) of photos as well as framed photos you will build into a an album or collage for the hallway wall.  Yeah, that one day pile is growing…and you can’t seem to stop it.

Then there’s the Just In Case stuff you hold onto for whatever that situation might be in the future.  The thing is, it’s just more things hanging around the household without a plan or purpose and it is all using up much needed storage.

Over time, hidden recycling, that one day pile, and the just in case stuff will accumulate and become overwhelming to sift through and that’s where I come in.  Together, we will pull everything out, prioritize and determine what is best for you to keep, use or repurpose and believe it or not, we WILL uncover much needed storage!

If you want to source new storage and living space in your home, it is pure joy for me to help households declutter so they can live lighter with less stuff.  To learn more about Tick off the List Home Services, please visit my FAQ and for a free 30 minute consultation, email niki@tickoffthelist.ca.
