Here’s a few spring cleaning tasks that might not be on your To Do List.

With the holidaze behind us and the decorations packed away, it’s time to start some spring cleaning projects and in my household that starts now because by Spring, I’ll be knee deep in my garden and tending to my bees.  So here’s a few tasks that sometimes get overlooked in the heat of getting to the finish line;

  • Appliance Filters – some of the hardest working appliances in the home are in need of a filter clean.  Take for example your dishwasher and front loading washing machine which were likely working overtime during the holiday season.  While you might remember to run the Self Clean mode, things get pretty yucky on the filter front and it takes just minutes to clean them.
  • Coffee & Tea Service – about 3x a year, I run vinegar through the coffee maker cycle then rinse with fresh water through two additional full pot cycles while the coffee and tea pot(s) get an overnight soak with a dishwasher tablet in hot water.  These come out looking shiny new the next day.
  • Kitchen Sink – the kitchen sink, dish rack & tray could always use a good scrub.  I love to polish my stainless steel sink with baking soda – with a little elbow grease it comes out looking brand new again.
  • Fridge & Pantry – this post-Christmas season I’ve been going through glass jars & plastic bottles of sweet & savories that have been “hanging around” well past their welcome in our fridge and pantry.  Obviously anything that has expired is tossed out and considering that our food palate has shifted to other favorites, it’s time for a refresh.  This effort also creates some much needed shelf space!
  • Garbage & Recycling Bins – garbage and recycling bins sure get sticky and dusty over time so these get a good scrub at least once per month.

Well that’s my list thus far ~ if/when I think of other bits & pieces, I’ll update this blog post.

Whether it’s a kitchen reset or some general housekeeping that has you overwhelmed, I would love to to help get your To Do List to the finish line! For more information, visit my FAQ and email me anytime at niki@tickoffthelist.ca.
